Bridging the Gap in Mental Health Interpreting

The Bridging the Gap in Mental Health Interpreting Virtual Training is an add-on option to the Bridging the Gap Medical Interpreter Virtual Training course and explores the skills and knowledge necessary to be an effective interpreter in mental health care.

It is a 5-day course and launches monthly, with a total of 24 hours of instruction over five days.

This comprehensive professional development program prepares bilingual individuals to work as mental health medical interpreters. Participants must complete the prerequisite 40-hour Bridging the Gap Medical Interpreter Training, or a different 40-hour interpreting course approved by CCHCP. This is the leading medical interpreter course in the country and is used to develop novice and experienced medical interpreters. This certificate program, created by the Cross-Cultural Health Care Program, is also accredited by the Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters (CCHI) and the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters (NBCMI).
