Emergency departments are often the first point of contact for individuals facing the complex challenges of opioid use disorder (OUD). Providing person-centered care in this setting means going beyond protocols to embrace empathy, reduce stigma, and support recovery with evidence-based practices. This is a collaborative session supporting Medication for Opiod Use Disorder (MOUD) implementation and innovation across care settings.
This confidential, collaborative session is designed for healthcare professionals working in emergency care settings. Upon completion of the program, participants will be able to describe core components of person-centered care for patients with opioid use disorder in the emergency department setting, including the initiation of MOUD and strategies to reduce stigma and improve linkage to ongoing treatment.
This PSO Safe Table is supported in part by the NJ Dept of Health (NOFA OORP25TMO) and by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as part of a financial assistance award to the NJ Dept of Health.
