On Day 3 of the Healthcare Readiness Series, HCC members will receive training on planning and operational decision making across complex incident scenarios.

As a core function of the New Jersey Healthcare Coalitions, the Healthcare Readiness Series supports coalition members by translating preparedness priorities into actionable, real-world training. Each session reflects the Coalitions’ role in coordinating partners, sharing best practices, and ensuring healthcare organizations are prepared to respond together before, during, and after emergencies.

Topics for this session include an overview of High Consequence Infectious Diseases, highlighting National Special Pathogen System Region 2 resources, risks related to non-domestic travel, and the importance of early recognition and escalation of non-endemic pathogens, multi-agency coordination, resource typing, and how hospitals and EMS integrate into broader incident action planning during MCIs. It will also include a Clinical Communication Skills workshop that emphasizes continuity of operations and equity in response, highlighting how language access, ASL, and AFN resources can be operationalized through emergency plans, pre incident agreements, and county and state activation processes, and a crisis care session.

ABOUT THE SERIES
The Healthcare Readiness Series is designed to prepare emergency managers and healthcare partners to plan for, respond to, and recover from complex and large-scale events. The series integrates topics such as, but not limited to public health preparedness, cybersecurity preparation, infectious disease response, crowd and environmental hazard awareness, ethical and culturally competent patient care, access and functional needs, safety, and coordination across disciplines. Together, these sessions build a comprehensive framework for sustaining healthcare operations before, during, and after major emergencies and mass gatherings ensuring our Healthcare Coalition members feel prepared and supported for this summer’s upcoming events and beyond.
